Preguntas frecuentes

Is this practice validated by the WHO?

NO! The WHO does not support the use of chemicals (of any kind!) on humans. They have a negative effect on human health and in severe cases can even cause death.

Can these chemicals harm my health?

YES! When a chemical comes in contact with the skin oils it produces a chemical reaction that causes an irritation of the skin and/or respiratory tract. Additionally, its contact with the eyes can cause damage.

What chemicals do these tunnels use?

There are different doses and mixtures depending on the company and the country. The most common are:
Benzalkonium Chloride (Quaternary Ammonium Cations)
Chlorine
Hydrogen Peroxide
Silver Ions
Ozone

What are disinfection tunnels/disinfection measures?

Disinfection tunnels, spraying people with chemicals, spraying streets, drones and planes spraying chemicals flying over houses and open fields are some of the new measures that proliferated quite rapidly in the effort to fight the virus.

But ozone is made of oxygen atoms, so shouldn't it be safe?

Ozone is a molecule made of 3 atoms of Oxygen yes! But it is much more reactive than O2, and the chemical reaction that it has with your skin oils produces a negative effect on your lungs and skin. Its level of toxicity DOES NOT make it safe!

So why are other countries doing it, if it so bad?

Good question! They have been following a trend without any scientific evidence to support their use, and no-observance of the damage they can cause to your health and the environment.

What is Covid-19?

It is a disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2 that has never been identified in humans before. It is part of a family of viruses that is transmitted between animals and people.
SARS-CoV-2 virus is spread by person-to-person contact through small droplets from the nose and/or mouth, which are expelled when someone with the virus coughs, sneezes, or speaks.
More information about Covid-19 can be found at:

How many times should I pass through a tunnel to get disinfected?

NONE! The tunnels do not remove the virus inside one's body and the chemicals are harmful for one's health. Additionally, some Health Ministries actually fear that the virus can be propagated through these tunnels and therefore have banned them.

What is antimicrobial resistance or AMR?

Antimicrobial resistance is the capacity of a microorganism to become inmune to antibiotics and/or biocides. It usually occurs after been over exposed to these substances.

Can I use citric acid or alcohol in my disinfection tunnels?

There is no need to use disinfection tunnels. Any chemical use in the human body can have an effect in one's health. Citric acid and/or alcohol are good subtitutes of other chemicals to disinfect surfaces, as they have a lower impact in the environment, but they still are not to be sprayed on humans.

What can my company do then?

It can install sinks at the entrance of the buildings for every person that enters to wash their hands, or have automatic handsanitizers with a 60% of alcohol based formula at the entrance. Aditionally to cleaning & disinfecting indoor equipment, on a daily basis.
